Pink Pepper

With our cloudy and rainy weather, the temperature has dropped. With this fall chill in the air, we are all working on strengthening our immune system. Historically, humans have used the Pink Pepper essential oil as an herbal solution.

Whenever I think of fall, my mind goes straight to family, friends, and food. Spearmint

Bad breath can be embarrassing at times, but thankfully I have dōTERRA Spearmint oil. Every morning and night, I apply Spearmint oil to my toothbrush before brushing my teeth for fresh breath. It’s a great way to cleanse the mouth after meals.

Spearmint is frequently used in salads, drinks, and desserts, but did you know that it has been used for centuries for its digestive benefits*. dōTERRA Spearmint is great for promoting digestion and helps reduce occasional stomach upset*. Lemon

Did you know that Lemon is dōTERRA’s top-selling essential oil? That’s right! The cleansing, purifying, and invigorating properties of Lemon make it one of the most versatile oils. I use dōTERRA Lemon essential oil every day in my house.  I add Lemon oil to a spray bottle of water to clean my table, countertops, and other surfaces in my home. Lemon oil also makes a great furniture polish; simply add a few drops to olive oil to clean, protect, and shine wood finishes.

Copaiba

Originating from the resin of the Copaiba tree found in South America, doTERRA Copaiba was introduced as a new oil in the fall of 2017. The spicy and woodsy aroma combines well in a blend to personalize your fragrance. It can promote clear and smooth skin, support whole-body wellness, and calm the occasional *anxious feeling.

Known for its soothing and supportive nature, I used a couple drops of Copaiba in a bath to relax my overworked muscles. I enjoy the earthy toned essential oils and Copaiba has become a true favorite.

Spikenard

Are you stressed and exhausted from adjusting to the back to school schedule? doTERRA Spikenard, a lesser known oil, is famous for its positive and calming effects on emotions and can be applied  topically to promote youthful, glowing skin. Although it is an unlikely oil to diffuse, when blended with Frankincense and Lavender, Spikenard becomes a soothing woodland blend that can help manage your mood.

doTERRA Spikenard is steam distilled from the roots of the plant, it was historically used to anoint people of high honor in the Ayurvedic health practices of India. Today, it’s used in perfumes and massage oils for its woody, musty and deep aroma. Combine with your favorite moisturizer for soft, smooth, and hydrated skin.

Basil

dōTERRA Basil essential oil has a warm, spicy, and herbal aroma that is known to reduce anxious feelings. One amazing thing about Basil essential oil is that it provides great benefits for both mind and body due to its high linalool content. I love to apply Basil to my temples and the back of my neck.

As the kids are getting back to school, it’s important to help them stay focused while doing their school work. Green Mandarin

Cedarwood

Lately I’ve started working out. Even though I feel better and look better, working out can be very tiring. One thing I found that really helps me stay motivated throughout my workout, is dōTERRA’s Cedarwood essential oil. I massage one to two drops onto my chest to help maintain vitality throughout my workout.

Did you know that dōTERRA Cedarwood is a great oil for promoting relaxation? With properties that help to soothe the mind and body, the warm, woody scent of Cedarwood essential oil can create a relaxing environment when used topically or aromatically. Spearmint

Do you love summer, but hate the heat that comes with it? Cool off with doTERRA Spearmint! Its sweet, refreshing aroma is cleansing and uplifting, making it ideal to evoke a sense of focus and positive mood. Spearmint is very different from Peppermint, and is a milder option to use on children and persons with sensitive skin. Spearmint can also be great for use in the kitchen. Try it in a salad as part of a homemade dressing, a spearmint julep, or any of your favorite desserts. Spearmint also makes for a great addition to any meat marinade recipe.

Melaleuca / Tea Tree

This week we’ll be spotlighting dōTERRA Melaleuca essential oil. Melaleuca, or Tea Tree oil, is one of my all around favorite essential oils because of how versatile it is. It’s best known for its purifying qualities, which makes it useful for cleansing the skin and home surfaces, purifying the air, or promoting healthy immune function.

dōTERRA Melaleuca essential oil is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. For occasional skin irritations, apply 1–2 drops of Melaleuca essential oil onto affected area. For an added cleansing property, combine 1–2 drops with your facial cleanser, or apply to the skin after shaving. Not only is it best for cosmetic care, dōTERRA Melaleuca works great when cleaning hard surfaces. Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and use on surfaces in your home to protect against environmental and seasonal threats.

Ginger

Do you love to try new foods? dōTERRA Ginger is a main ingredient in many Asian dishes for its hot, fragrant flavor. It may be more familiar to you as it’s used more commonly in sweets such as gingerbread and ginger snaps. When used as a kitchen spice, Ginger adds flavor to a variety of dishes and can also help support healthy digestion.* Apply ginger over your lower abdomen for a soothing massage to help reduce bloating, gas, and occasional indigestion.*

I’ve been traveling recently and sometimes have occasional nausea when sitting in a car for too long. Something I found that really works for me is dōTERRA Ginger essential oil. dōTERRA Ginger can help reduce occasional nausea by either being applied topically or inhaled.* I diffuse or place a drop of ginger in the palm of my hand and inhale to create a soothing aroma.

Patchouli

Diffuse alone or combine with woody aromas to enjoy the grounding benefits of dōTERRA Patchouli. Apply it to dry areas to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes. When diluted, dōTERRA Patchouli acts as a natural deodorant. The strong and unique scent makes a great base in floral blends.

Arborvitae

Do you love the great outdoors, but dislike being pestered by bugs? You’re not alone. Bugs can turn an outdoor adventure into an uncomfortable situation. Make sure to avoid any discomfort bugs may bring and pack Arborvitae essential oil for your next outing. Arborvitae oil is great for hiking and camping due to its chemical components—tropolones. Tropolones have chemical properties that act as a natural insect repellant. For an enjoyable hiking or outdoor experience, apply Arborvitae essential oil to your wrists and ankles. Another way to repel unwanted creepy crawlies is by placing a few drops of Arborvitae essential oil into a diffuser and letting the warm aroma fill your home. Grapefruit

doTERRA’s Grapefruit Essential oil is versatile we also enjoy a few drops in a cool glass of water and using it in our diffuser. Combine  Grapefruit and Elevation for a tangy combination uplifts your mood and provides an energizing aroma. It’s a great motivation boost to help set your mindset and accomplish your spring-cleaning this season. Organizing and de-junking is not my favorite hobby, so I am happy to diffuse anything that will help give me the kick I need to get it all done! Rosemary

Vetiver

With it still being cold, it’s important to keep your immune system strong. dōTERRA Vetiver is great for boosting the immune system. Add 1-2 drops of dōTERRA Vetiver essential oil to tea or other hot drinks to strengthen the immune defense.

Petigrain

Some days we just need to relax. dōTERRA Petitgrain essential oil helps promote feelings of relaxation and is helpful in creating a calm, relaxed environment. Two ways to use this oil is diffusing it with Lavender and Bergamont before going to bed or combining a few drops with dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil for a relaxing foot massage. It even helps promote healthy skin! Add a few drops to Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections.
